Socks

Jameel's socks

This is the secnond pair of socks I made, and first pair for a friend.
I used the Basic Socks pattern from Lion Brand.com, and the yarn is Lion Brand Magic Stripes in Jelly Bean.

I used this yarn for a different friend who liked the wild colors. Unfortunately, the yarn is a wool blend, and the original recipent couldn't wear it. Luckily for me Jameel also has thin legs and huge feet and he inherited the socks. They're super warm and lots of fun too :)

I think this was the last pair of top-down socks I made--I just don't like the way the heel looks on top-down patterns.

black & gold socks black & gold socks

Sock pair #2. Unsure of yarn brand--I bought it from Knit One(this awesome yarn shop about 3 blocks from my apartment). I love the self-striping Black & Gold. :)
I wrote this pattern myself--its a standard toe-up sock, started with the figure-8 method and 2x2 ribbing on the cuff. Pretty basic. What I'm especially psyched about these is both socks came from one skein. I weighed the skein, rolled it into 2 smaller balls, and when each one weighed half I made that the cut-off point. This is another advantage to toe-up knitting--you just go until you run out of yarn!

Knee high socks. Again, unsure of the yarn, but it too came from Knit One. The pattern is one called "Firefigher's Socks" because of the ladder ribbing, but the page where I got the pattern from appears to be down. Sad :( I also did the "split skein in half and knit till you run out of yarn" method for these socks, and I'm delighted at how tall they ended up. :)

Mary-Jane style slipper socks. Pattern written by me, yarn is Patons Bohemian in Wandering Wines.
These are just like the one's I'm selling on Etsy but custom made especially for Steph. She picked out the yarn and the clay bead to use for a button and I whipped them up one Saturday afternoon while visiting her. They're super soft and I think look really cute on her tiny feet :)

Toe Socks!! Pattern written by me, yarn is Panda Cotton in #0439 "Night Lights."
This is my first pair of toe socks! I knit them toe-up and they were a lot easier than expected. The yarn used is 55% bamboo and oh, so silky soft. It is a multi-colored yarn and made some funky patterns when I increased up the leg. This will also be on sale at Etsy, so if you want them better act fast!! :)

Toe Socks!! Pattern written by me, yarn is Cascade Fixation in #2499 French Blue and #6185 Fuchsia.
Toe socks #2! A friend commissioned me to make these for a Christmas gift. Completely custom-sized and I think the colors are so fun! I really enjoy the alternating stripe colors so they match but are different. Funky! The yarn is really stretchy too--I recommend it for your sock-making needs.
